What is the Captain's Price?
All negotiations must start somewhere. On MerchantsBay, negotiations start at The Captain's Price. The Captain's Price is not the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Instead, The Captain's Price closely approximates the actual retail price set by our wholesale customers (those buying in large volume in their store or business). We survey our wholesale customers regularly and adjust the Captain's Prices based on their feedback.
How Do I Use the Captain's Price as a Negotiating Guide?
On MerchantsBay, the more you buy, the better your chance for a lower negotiated price. On small volume purchases (only a few items), customers should consider making offers close to or equal to the Captain's Price to complete a successful negotiation. With larger volume purchases, customers can often complete a successful negotiation at prices significantly lower than the Captain's Price. (A note to our wholesale buyers: Remember that the Captain's Price is just about the price you would expect to charge customers in your store or business. Make your offers with this in mind.)
How Do I Negotiate with the Captain?
Using the Captain's Price as a guide, decide what product you want, how much you need and how much you want to pay. Once your information is submitted, the Captain negotiates interactively with you. If your offer is accepted, the Captain will tell you and your purchase goes into your shopping cart. If your offer is not accepted, the Captain will tell you what to do to complete a successful negotiation.
